Family Meetings and Care Consultation

If you are seeking guidance for yourself or a loved one about how to discuss and make plans around a new diagnosis, changes in physical or mental abilities, or end-of-life care, I can help you. Managing a diagnosis of a serious illness or the needs that can come with aging involve coping with emotions as well as with practical needs. These sessions are not “family therapy” but are compassionately facilitated discussions to help you process current challenges, make decisions, and plan for the future. I offer a brief consultation model of 1-3 family meetings or consultation sessions to discuss issues such as:

  • Processing the emotions that often come with new diagnoses or the changes of aging.

  • Planning formal and informal caregiving supports.

  • Completing an advance directive such as a living will that is consistent with your wishes and values.

  • Strategizing for how to get the most out of your conversations with your healthcare providers.

  • Understanding more about palliative care and hospice and when these services might best assist you.

Want help talking with your family or physician about planning for the future? Let’s explore that option together.

Family Meeting and Care Consultation services: $175/hour

  • In-Person Services

I offer in-person services in my office at Whitemarsh Learning Center in Fort Washington, PA. On the grounds of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, the office has ample, free parking and is accessible.

I am fully vaccinated. However, if you prefer to wear a mask during in-person visits, I will gladly honor your request. The St. Thomas’ grounds also provide ample opportunity for meeting privately outdoors should you prefer to meet outside, weather permitting.

  • Online Services

If your comfort level, location, or schedule makes meeting in-person difficult, we can meet online via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video connection. Participate in care coordination and planning with me from anywhere in Pennsylvania.

Prior to our first meeting, I will email you a link to your virtual “waiting room.” A few minutes prior to each session, you will clink on this link and wait until I begin the session. No need to download any programs - just click on a link to start.
